Hello Dave looks remarkably like the house I designed, built & marketed as the LENHAM RANGE when I ( and Cindy my wife ) was the owner of FORSHAM COTTAGE ARKS here in the UK. Especially the nest shutters, perch arrangement, and the lift away nest bank for cleaning. Lost the company in 2010, partly down to cheap copies flooding the market from the Far East.
As they say “When one door shuts another opens ” here’s hoping that applies to pop-hole doors as well
My Gods Bless Granddad Rob
Sorry no, It was a one off, designed as he built!
I love the design…Are there building plans available?
Love the box-blocker flaps! Our birds do that, too….annoying!
but yea love the coop wish i had the money to do that.
buying coops is way to expensive :p. if you have the ability / option to build your own then do it because it saves a a descent amount of money. but if your rich off your ass and want it to look really nice then what the hell but hey dont have to take my word for it :p.
gave me a great idea with the tarp underneath thank you!
That is a laying hen’s penthouse! Great job and thanks for sharing with us.
Dave you’ve done your homework on this, and made a great coop … only someone that keeps hens can really appreciate the design! heritage breeds aswell, enjoy the eggs Sir.
i wonder if treating the perch racks with a few layers of poly would make it easier to clean.
my coop is 400 square feet, this coop is for little girls and sissy boys haha
Awesome looking coop, very pratical and well thought out.
the tarp in the bottom is a great idea! it was something I was thinking about doing and it’s great to see it in action 🙂
you can build or buy great coops that have head height so you can walk in but because they use more timber they are of course more expensive and can be a little over bearing in a small urban yard.
The vents don’t allow any rain in and have insect mesh inside.
Thanks for sharing but I don’t know why chicken coops have too be ugly? why couldn’t they be a nice looking small shed that you can walk in to clean it?
