chicken tractor large

this is my homemade chicken tractor. It is raining so the audio is weak. I will be putting nesting boxes on it soon. It is 12’x 5 1/2. enjoy. please leave comments good or bad, Ilove them all. Please rate. By the way I didnt realize how much of a Maine accent I had until I heard this. Check out my ice fishing shack at 2:06. It has a polycarbonate roof and vinyl siding. at 20 degrees on a sunny day it stays about 50 degrees without the wood stove lit

  2. Nice tractor….a tip for you…..suspend your waterer from the center post of your tractor and then there will be no need to remove when you are moving it!

  3. 2 to 3 square feet per bird is the miniimum. I had 12 birds in there but they were let outside whenever I was around.I moved them into a much larger shed with a large fenced in area as they grew larger. The tractor now is for broody hens. This is more then enough room for six birds. Not in this video are nesting boxes that are now attached to the side.

  4. nice. I just got all my rafters cut for mine. I tend to over engineer everything I do so it should be sturdy. Did a 24/12 pitch roof and going to use some left over metal roofing from the 6X6 Coop I built. I built my coop to look like a shed building, and used the cheapest windows I could find.

  5. the tubes are a piece of square stock steel tube I got at the local hardware store.I used conduit straps to secure them to the wood frame. the axels are round tube that I welded a threaded rod into the round stock slides in the square stock perfectly. This is all inexpensive home depot stuff. The most expensive thing on here is the hinges and latches and gatehooks, I spent about 35$ on the hardware. This can be built for 150$ or much less depending on what you have laying around.

  7. thanks alot , it now has nesting boxes on the sides of it. I have 13 birds and they have more than enough room. I looked for a design I liked and just scaled it up. It is light enough so my wife can move it. Next spring Im getting meat birds as well. I now have two guineies in there as well. They will be thanksgiving .
