can I suggest a pooper scooper?
You’re a great chicken Dad. I’ve never ever seen such a clean coop!
wow that is a mighty clean chicken coop! you have given me some great ideas
to tidy up mine for this winter. right now i have 3 different perches so
poop goes pretty much everywhere.
i already use our leftovers for our garden, i agree that it is awesome. but
my dog likes to eat as much of it as she can ewwww haha
you might like the deep litter method
I live in the uk and after all the rain i now have a muddy swampy run this
caused because i put straw down and the chucks have pounded it down helping
it to rot so i have for the moment moved them to a new run but less room
what can i do to make the muddy run dry could i use sand or gravel?
This is great, I’m thinking of getting chickens again and I’ve been
wondering what type of coop to make/get so cleaning wound be easier. Thanks
a lot!
Why not make another screen and put it under the layer of sawdust? You seem
to go through a lot of steps that you could condense into 2.
could you not use paper underneath them at night and remove it at daylight
or would they eat the paper or use a wire screen under them and let the
poop fall into a bucket or something. just thinking
I did spend a lot of cash and effort into lack of detail instruction
woodworking plan and felt wasted seeing postponed project.
very good i am up to my eyes everyday and it always look dirty so thankyou
for the tip
Even though I don’t keep poultry, I love when people come up with processes
and make stuff so efficient, it’s really nice to watch :)
where did you buy the coop at
where do they lay there eggs
yuck! dude rubber gloves or just yuck! I bet your single.
Thanks for the demo! Love your setup.
Ever heard of gloves?
all these people making a fuss about picking up the poop are funny.
Just started keeping chickens, and your way is the way l was advised to
keep the coop clean and odour free. After watching your video it just backs
it up. Wood shavings and poop-pick every day is the way to go – literally 5
mins…but l use neoprene gloves too – easy :)
I like your way of doing it!!! I gave it a try….worked great!! Now, have
any suggestions on cleaning the hog pen out…and PLEASE don’t say “do it
by hand”!! My little pig, (named Bacon), would think I’m “just like him”!
lololol!! :)
You could probably make yourself a custom screened shovel… That can just
scoop the poop and leave behind your sawdust.
Awesome idea..beautifully clean coop…And… I just love how you handle
all of these people making a big “stink” over you picking up poo with your
hands and how you “handle” it. Really “peeps”…it’s just doo doo…didn’t
ya ever clean a baby’s diaper???
Sand is WAY better… Sift it out with a Kitty litter scoop and viola! You
only remove the poop. The sand lasts so long and you can even wash, dry and
reuse the sand!
where you get sawdust at ??????
I don’t understand why you wouldn’t just place your hardware cloth frame
underneath their sleeping area to catch the falling poop before it reaches
the sawdust. Seems to me you can skip a few steps by taking the frame out
and dumping it on your compost heap. No?
and don’t they poo during the day too? what do you do about that?
