My city says you can have 6 chickens regardless of lot size, but then a few paragraphs down it says your coop HAS to be 50 feet from any property line… WTH?
@857gamer Private property is just that. Private. A person’s private home, in city limits or not, is not a public place. If the neighbor’s two year old walked into your yard unsupervised that would be an issue with parenting of the child. I doubt you get more mess (besides extra feathers) from a home slaughtered chicken then you do a whole one fresh from the grocery. (Mine comes with the guts and bits from the grocery anyway) They should be able to do as they please with their chickens.
@zokizoran u think the city wants blood and guts in a public place? what if the neighbors 2 year old came over when u were slaughtering it? (kinda a funny concept with 2 year old XD) and it would screech while u held it down, so, yeah not the best thinking

We love our backyard chickens! We just clipped their wings so they can roam the yard and not fly away! We are beginners so it was a challenge. We made a video that is really not helpful but it’s kind of funny! So glad we are able to enjoy them these days in town!

@MuddlingThrough2011 Fair enough, thanks for the info.
@tool404 It’s only a “fetus” if they have a rooster. No rooster = no possibility of there being a baby chicken in the egg.

They like to eat their pets’ fetuses. It’s weird that it’s okay to do that with your pet chicken but not pet dog or cat.
