  1. A Road Island Red Rooster would have been all over you Thatnub. Brave
little birds…. Well worth our respect.

  2. Thank you for responding. I guess I need to clip, also plan on cross
fencing a larger part of the area so they can do a little free roaming.
They stay close to pen when someone gets out.

  3. Have you checked w/ your county laws? Many will now allow up to 3 hens/no
roosters. Re check with them. Ours changed few yrs ago. Good luck.

  4. How cliche, man. Copying the Marvel movie tactics of slipping in more movie
during the credits. JK. Love the video. I was wondering if the rooster was
going to get you or if the chickens were going to escape. Thanks for
    another BTEPG vid.

  5. I do that from time to time to see if anyone watches my videos all the way
through or if I have an out take that should be seen.

  6. My son-in-law told me they would fly up in trees! Their coop is under a
peach tree with low hanging limbs. Thank you so much for your insite. I
know now what I must do. Clip wings until I can enclose the top. I can let
them out to free range some with supervision, they so love the grass & bugs
I dump the lawn mower bag into their pen as a treat now 😉

  7. Funny Rooster…takes his job seriously. I’m having a problem with my small
RIR flock 6@15wks old. Starting to fly over the 4ft fencing coming down
their ramp. Coop is on 4×4 stilks. Wonder if he has that problem? I either
need to clip wings, extend the top up or run some sort of cover. New at
this. Haven’t had chickens since childhood Easter chicks! Any ideas?

  8. I know that no one could catch them until we did. We placed a huge box 4
the hen, and her chicks, got them, and we took them to a farmer friend that
wanted them, and they stayed in the woods from then on. They had plenty of
chicks and would use the nesting boxes they gave them, it was a weird way
to raise them, he had hundreds of acres, & they eventually got used to the
other chickens too. We had a big box to catch them, no catch doors. took a
long time too. They do Love the bugs & grass LOL

  9. Paul clips his chickens wings. When the compost in the pen gets built up to
high, they still hop over the fence from time to time. Usually they stay in
the pen because that is where the good food is.

  10. I really like the looks of his place. Wish I could have chickens. I lived
in Moses Lake, Wa. for 7 years when I was in the Air Force and now back on
East coast. That was 50 years ago.

  11. A neighbor had RIR and they got out, and lived in the trees from then on.
They can, and will, go high into the trees, however there are some that
don’t. I know we had many a pile of eggs at the back door under a covering
there, that they came to lay their eggs in, and we would also see hens come
out of the woods with dozens and dozens of chicks. They love the freedom,
but hawks tend to show up if they see them in the trees too. Good luck.

  12. LOL! My E. B. would have given you the business too. Roosters always
protect their girls. I let mine free range and protect my veggie beds.
