  2. You shouldn’t use anything metal because it is too slippery and conducts heat or cold and will be uncomfortable for them to sit on for any length of time.
Also, the lights and electrical switches should be caged in case they fly up, so they can’t get cut with broken glass or get electrocuted. Chickens can really panic when a rodent moves around in the dark.
    Really nice job!

  3. Wow, this is fantastic! I know someone who spent $30,000 on a fancy coop for his homing pigeons, but one of his birds won him $20,000 in a race, so I guess they deserved such fancy accomodations!
2 suggestions: the chickens need to have rounded perches to prevent pressure sores on their feet; square edges, even if they are sanded, will cause pressure sores which can lead to open sores with infections. If you use PVC pipe, you need to roughen the surface with scratches to give them traction.

  4. Great coop. Thanks for sharing your design improvements. There seems to be no topic on YouTube which is exempt from people whose entire reason for existing is to leave irrelevant, insulting remarks about particular videos. Is that how you entertain yourselves when you can’t locate an Occupy rally to publicly make an ass of yourself?

  5. they covered the gutter and downpipes with Pine??

I am sure the chickens are grateful and improved the quality of their egg laying as a result/

Now here is a challenge for the local therapist

  7. Great coop one of the best I’ve seen . You said you were experimenting with the perch you may think about using a 2 1/2″ pipe. The pipe allows their feet to lay more naturally. My chickens like the pipe vs the board. Great job!!!!
